 What
happens at the BriteSmile Teeth Whitening appointment?
First of all, the shade (colour) of the teeth at present is
selected and a digital photograph is taken of the teeth.
A BriteSmile Whitening Kit is opened for each patient. The
teeth are polished and the necessary protective coating applied
to
the gums and lip. The special BriteSmile activator is applied
to all the teeth, upper and lower, and the BriteSmile lamp
activated. The whitening procedure lasts about 1 hour. A
second digital
photograph of the newly-whitened teeth is taken. Smile!
After-care products such as BriteSmile toothpaste and mouthwash
are included.
What
are the precautions one should take?
It is important that for 24 hours after whitening, the patient
avoids any food or drink that may stain the teeth. This may include
cola drinks, coffee and tea, red wine, curries, tomato sauces
(any foodstuffs which would stain a white shirt). Cigarette smoking
should also be curtailed. Recommended foods during this 24 hour
period may include white rice, chicken breast, white wine, water,
or milk. After tooth whitening, sensitivity of the teeth to cold
drinks may be experienced by some patients.
